And we're done...

Week 12 is here, and I've finally completed my Genius hour project. The product is done and has been placed in my blog, and I couldn't be happier to see all of the hard work finally come together. In terms of what's next, it would be to not let this go to waste and to continue to practice everything I've learned. If I stop now, all the hard work and new learning will go to waste. I have to keep at it, continue to cook, learn new recipes, and refine my skills more and more. Only then can I truly become a good cook. It's going to take time, but it's something I want quite a bit, and something I'm more than willing to keep working at.

I learned a lot about myself during the course of the 12-week project. For one, I actually do have the capacity to cook and cook something decent. I was able to put together numerous tasty meals that my family and my girlfriend all got to enjoy. Secondly, I realized that I truly can learn anything I put my mind to. We are not limited to the things we perceive as our strengths. It comes down to having that growth mindset and being patient in our learning process. Nothing will happen overnight, but with the appropriate effort and consistency, we can make anything a strength. Lastly, I learned how fun it can be to do creative things. My teachable subjects are Physics and Math, which require me to mostly be strict in my thought process and how I approach learning and thinking. Creativity is not something I express often. That being said, this project showed me how fun it can be to be creative, and just how engaging it can be. It also showed me that creativity can be brought into any subject if you approach it with the right mindset, even Physics, and Math. This motivates me to carry that creativity over to my teaching practice and allow my students to benefit from it, just as I did.

All in all, the Genius Hour project was tons of fun, and I learned so much about myself, and about my topic. I will carry over this knowledge into the future and do my best to continually improve and one day become a great cook.
